Bye-Bye Cali

The trip is coming to a close….I’m sitting in the Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, CA waiting for my flight (although, this won’t post until I can get back on free Wi-Fi, boo to pay-by-the-hour hotspots).

Yesterday I felt like I had been in CA for a month, but now as I reminisce about the trip it seems like only a day ago I flew into San Diego.  Funny how that works.  Here’s a little taste of how my week went…..Sea World in San Diego, bike riding on Coronado Island and chillin’ at the beach, Surfliner train from San Diego to LA, Anaheim Angels ballgame, more beach time, Disneyland (14 hrs of it I might add…..), pool at the hotel, wedding and accompanying reception, games at Starbucks, worship at Willow Ave Church, a little more beach, and then finally BBQ with a family at their home where we stayed the last night.  All the final goodbye’s were said this morning and we’re all on our way home, well most of us, kinda.

Needless to say outside of those main activities, there was plenty of relaxing and hanging out with my PAZ family and some newly acquired friends!  To all of you reading this, thanks for the AWESOME week.  It was great to spend time with everybody here in the States while on ‘vacation’.  I praise God for a blessed week!

One interesting thing about this trip was that when I left the Peoria airport a week ago, I had nothing arranged other than my two flights and a place to sleep for two nights……makes for an interesting trip when you’re literally winging it the entire time…..spontaneity rules at that point!  I’ll call it flexibility training for the mission field ;-)

So now it’s back to work….I’ll be busy for the coming weeks working through the Perspectives course and gathering documents for my visa application.  Please pray for my focus and motivation those two tasks!

Giving God the Glory,
JAE

Wow! Just reading through your blog has inspired me to do the same - blog about my preparations for the mission field. It has also encouraged me...nice to read about your preparations, to see that others need prayer for focus and motivation, and to learn about how you are preparing. Thanks for taking the time to share your life and experiences on your blog...And thanks for worshiping with us on Sunday at Wilshire Ave. It was so great to learn about what God is doing in the Amazon...I love hearing from fellow missionaries! Blessings to you as you prepare!

Thanks Jen! It was a blessing for me to worship with you all on Sunday! Your church was very loving and welcoming of us.

I'm blessed to hear that this blog is encouraging to you. Praise the Lord! Where are you preparing to go to and when? Let me know when you get your blog up and going and know that I'm lifting you up in prayer in the mean time!

That is one reason I have made WA my home church - they are truly my family away from family.

So, I blogged today! http://www.easysite.com/jenkosborn This is my website...just click on blog at the top. Not much there yet, but I am going to keep blogging. I am preparing to go to Serbia. I leave in September. I'd love to hear your story (your testimony, how God called you to be a missionary...) Have you blogged about these things?

You know, I haven't really put anything on my blog about that yet...maybe sometime in the near future I should. In the mean time, if you look at my notes on Facebook, there should be couple notes there...
