An Encounter With God…

Well, this week has literally flown by, and all of a sudden it’s Thursday night!  Overall, the week went well, spending some time with various people doing various activities.  Earlier in the week I was able to enjoy the beautiful weather with some great friends complete with an excellent evening of grilling (I propose the friends are what made the evening, not the grill or the weather).  I had the luxury of joining some of my church family in sorting clothes at a collection/distribution center that my church operates.  Tuesday brought lunch with an college/work friend followed by an informative evening in Bloomington where the directors of Project AmaZon were able to share about the mission, it’s history and vision.  I was also able to share about my calling to Brazil.  Wednesday was another lunch out and then an awesome evening with my brother and his family in Morton.  Then today was breakfast with a good friend and lunch with a colleague.  And then scattered throughout was various interrupted time for working on the Perspectives course that is hounding my departure timeline.  Whew…..

So all that to say this….I’m about to depart for Plainfield IL (Chicago Suburb) to support an Encountering God retreat on Friday and Saturday, May 8 and 9.  Southwest of Chicago in Berwyn IL, there is a PAZ church plant that is outreaching to the Hispanic community in that area.  The environment is extremely harsh and resistant to the Gospel.  The church has a small group of believers attending regularly.

NOTE: In Brazil, PAZ hosts Encounter weekend retreats for new believers to go through that is kind of like a gospel boot-camp.  Essentially it is geared to kick-starting the believers’ walk with the Lord and enabling them with the hands-on tools to live a redeemed life, resulting in extreme zeal and passion for service to the Lord!

Back to Plainfield…there are about a dozen or so PAZ missionaries there right now that are providing this church plant with the opportunity to experience an Encounter retreat.  About 15 people from the church will be attending.  There are obvious logistical issues that must be handled (language, translation, food, sleep, etc) so please keep this in mind over the next couple days.

Prayer Requests for the Weekend
- For the Holy Spirit to flood into the lives of every person that partakes in this weekend event, both those leading and receiving.

- For God to break down any strongholds that Satan may have in these young believer’s lives (remember most of them come from rough backgrounds)
- Everyone would leave renewed in their walk and passion for the Lord and His Kingdom!

In Christ,
JAE
