Remote

I often wonder how the modern missions movement would classify the work being done in the Amazon Basin of Brazil.  I have my own thoughts, but I’ve never heard or read of any “official” classification.  Not that it ultimately matters how it is classified, but I was an engineer and like to have some definition in my life.

I met a missionary from the Xingu Mission last fall.  They are located due east of Santarém just a short distance and are engaged in much of the same style of mission work as Project AmaZon.  The man’s name is Bud Simon and I believe he does a good job of putting some perspective on how missions in the Amazon Basin fits, or doesn’t fit, into the modern missions movement.
