Confirmed...

...that airline routings and ticket pricing make no logical sense.

Yesterday, Silvia and I traveled with her family to her grandparents home in rural ParanĂ¡, a state in southern Brazil.  Only in the name of cheaper prices, tickets were booked on an alternate route, that eventually took us on a 17 hour tour of 8 Brazilian airports!  As the crow flies, it's nearly 3,000 km (1,864 mi) from SantarĂ©m to here.  But the way we came, all 7 legs of our trip, took us over 7,000 km (4,350 mi)!

At least we had traveling partners.  And got fed on each flight (the same sandwich).  But needless to say, I don't think any of us will be taking this route any time soon!

How far do you have to go to get to family Christmas?
