So this past week I decided to go out and get my hairs trimmed. I’m heading out on the river for the next couple weeks and it’s just easier to deal with when it’s short. Sounds good, huh?
So I go so a “salon” as recommended by the host family, where they take their son to get his hair cut. So off I go. Praise the Lord for the universal hair cutting technique of electric clippers with numbered guards! Even though we couldn’t really communicate very well, I can count and point, so the lady figured out how to get the job done.
The overall experience is much better than the states! All for R$8 (US$3.50) I got my hair cut, hairline trimmed with a straight-razor, and washed. (I’ve heard of places as cheap as US$1.50! They just aren’t downtown near where I live. Plus coming from US$13, this was a bargain.)
So as the lady is finishing up the trim, she kindly points to my ears and and nods her head. I thought, oh, sure she’ll buzz off any stray ear hairs. So I gave her the nod, and before I knew it, I had hot wax in my ears and she was ripping ALL the hair off my ears! Of course once she started, I had to let her finish. It wasn’t too painful, but my ears definitely were sore for a day or two! So, I can now say that I’ve been waxed!
