I’ve been listening to this song, performed by the Harvest Bible Chapel worship band, called You’re Glorified. This past Sunday, during my personal time, it brought me to tears…
You’re Glorified
Heavenly Father, Glorious One
Perfect in all You do
Body and awesome, loving and strong
Humbly we worship you
We won’t be silent, we have to respond
Chorus
We lift our hands, we raise a song
Singing our praise to You alone
Holy, deserving, worthy one
We magnify with thoughts held high
You’re Glorified
King of all glory, Eternal Lord
Reigning in majesty
You’re Sovereign Creator, Father of Light
Shining for all to see
We won’t be silent, we have to respond
Chorus (2x)
I believe that this song accurately depicts the inability we have to withhold our praise and worship of the Lord when we realize our place in the world and His role in our salvation. Psalm 86:8-13 elaborates…
"There is none like you among the gods, O Lord, nor are there any works like yours. All the nations you have made shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name. For you are great and do wondrous things; you alone are God. Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. For great is your steadfast love toward me; you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol." (Psalm 86:8-13, ESV)
One thing here that really puts me in my place is at the end of the passage. God’s love for us is demonstrated by his delivering us from death! There is only ONE GOD! All of HIs nations will glorify His name! God, transform my heart that I may walk in the truth and fear your name! I can’t do it myself, it’s all You! May it bring glory to Your name for only You are worthy!
