Post-Piquiatuba, but Pre-Aritapera

We’re back!  Well, for a couple days anyway.  A team of North Americans, my friends Logan & Ashley, and myself with several other missionaries returned to Santarem after five long days of work for the kingdom, at about 4 AM on Saturday!  Thankfully the captain navigated us home through the night as we were not ableLogan & Ashley in the new church with the first of four trusses being set in the background. to leave the village of Piquiatuba until almost 10 PM on Friday night.  But praise God, by his grace we were able to set four all four trusses on the church!  This is a  major step in the construction process because of the amount of manpower it takes to do it.  What a privilege it was to take part in it!

So this weekend has been mostly relaxation with a bit of shopping, eating, and visiting various sites around Santarem.  We will depart tomorrow morning on another boat trip to the village of Aritapera where we will spend three or four days working.  Now that the team is accustomed to the refreshing clean waters of the Tapajos, they get to finish up in the murky Amazon River.  Oh well, in this heat, it all feels good!

Please praise God with us for the work that was safely accomplished in Piquiatuba and also for the Spirit’s preceding our arrival in Aritapera so that the love of Christ would flow out of our efforts!  May grace abound so that the gospel takes root in the lives of more souls this week!

I’ll plan to give some more detail on trip once the visitors are gone and life is back to normal…

Living in Grace,
JAE
