2800 miles later…

Nothing like a week of living out of your car to make you appreciate home just a little bit more…..11 days on the road, and I must say that it feels good to be back at my desk, but this could be short lived.  More on that later.

First I would like to praise God for an awesome trip to CO and thank everybody for their prayers!  As I logged my 2800 miles, I was able to crash in Manhattan KS and play sand volleyball on the K-State campus one evening (not quite the U of I, but not too shabby), meet up with the PAZ board in Denver, play soccer at 7200 ft (yes, I was winded, but it was definitely the altitude…), rock climb for the first time (apparently, didn’t do too bad for a rookie), stare at the clouds that blocked the mountain view for all but 1.5 days of the trip, spring for a nice 7 mile run in the foothills, and catch up with a friend in KC on my way back to Cissna Park where I joined some old high school friends at my HS basketball coach’s wedding reception.  I stayed in a Denver suburb with a friend from my church and commuted to Colorado Springs for my class.  Needless to say, I had a lot of windshield time on this trip so the podcasts were bumping…..

As fun as all that was, the main purpose of the trip was the mapping workshop at GMI in Colorado Springs.  Myself and five other guys attended the workshop and were inundated with information about how to utilize the GMMS software to enhance our ministries (in case you’re interested, the Global Ministry Mapping System is an add-on for ArcView GIS software package.)  The software allows users to create custom maps of any place in the world and load it up with data pertinent to Christian ministries.  I was blown away by the endless opportunities to use this program for His Kingdom!  Equally important in the class was the opportunity to share and learn from five other seasoned missionaries and see their passion for the Kingdom as well.

Special thanks to all of the Denver folks who befriended me for the week.  It’s great to have friends all over the country!  God Bless you all!

Grace to You,

JAE

John- are those pictures in reverse order? Did you just descend the rock or actually go up? Ha! Just kidding.

Perspective is a dangerous thing.....even in the third picture you still can't see the top of the route! I think it's about 90 feet to the top. And yes, I made it :-)

Nice pictures. Hearing about CO makes me eager for September to come!! Will I see you again before you take off for Brazil? At this rate, it may not happen.

Yeah, Colorado Springs is amazingly beautiful....better buy some hiking shoes :-)

I'll around for a few months yet...here and there...as much as I see the Morton crew anymore, it seems like I'm already gone!
